Harvesting Voices

St Patrick’s Fr Joseph Archibong interviews his Society brothers Fathers Hugo McBride, Tom Ryan, Seán Doggett, Kieran Birmingham, Frank Taylor and John Garry. Between them they have worked in Nigeria, Kenya, Sudan, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, UK, Ireland and Grenada (West Indies). With over 300 years of missionary work between them, they have seen and experienced countries go through wars, famines, droughts, natural disasters and also, changes and developments for the good. We hope you enjoy these interviews and meeting our missionaries.

 



Fr Hugo McBride (duration: 1 hour)

Ordained in 1966, Hugo speaks about family, childhood, schooling, Kiltegan, ordination, the Biafran War, Mfamosing Seminary, St Paul's Missionary Society, St Patrick's International Formation, Oakford, Kwadukuza and his future hopes.


Fr Tom Ryan (duration: 28 minutes)

Fr Tom was ordained in 1959 and has spent most of his missionary life working in Nigeria.


Fr Sean Doggett (duration: 1 hour)

Ordained in 1966, Fr Sean worked in Nigeria, Kenya and now in Grenada. He received an OBE in 2020 for his missionary work.

Fr Kieran Birmingham (duration: 38 minutes)

A former superior general of the St Patrick's Missionaries, Fr Kieran worked in Kenya, South Africa and Ireland. He was ordained in 1975.


Fr Frank Taylor (duration: 52 minutes)

Fr Frank was ordained in 1970 and has worked in Kenya, Zambia and Malawi.


Fr John Garry (duration: 1 hour and 8 minutes)

Fr John was ordained in 1969 and has worked in Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, UK and Ireland.
